UGC

User-generated content (UGC) is content made by users, such as customer reviews, product photos and videos.

Organic UGC and commissioned content

A customer sharing a product experience independently creates organic UGC. Buyers also use “UGC” to describe commissioned assets that resemble everyday user content. A paid creator may deliver a video without publishing it to their own followers.

An influencer placement typically includes distribution to a community. An asset commission buys production and agreed usage rights. A large follower count is therefore not essential for every UGC brief.

Define the delivery and usage

Specify the number of assets, format, revisions and deadlines. Agree on channels, duration and paid usage before production. Permission for whitelisting is a separate consideration from receiving the finished file.

For Instagram and TikTok, review sample work for voice, clarity and fit with the intended audience. Use AI creator search to find profiles and review their content. Discovering a post does not itself grant permission to reuse it.
